My sister came to visit and bought half & half for her coffee. I like my coffee black, so I knew this would linger in the fridge..
I had purchased a turnip for fun- just because- and thought the cream would maybe temper the bitterness. Maybe a gratin? I rounded out the turnip with some Brussels Sprouts in the fridge.
It kind of worked- but I would probably never make this again. Still too bitter. I think it needed more cream.
- 1 turnip, sliced thin
- 2 cups of Brussels sprouts, cleaned and quartered
- 1 cup of half and half
- 2 handfuls of shredded Parmesan
- 2 slices of bread
- a pat of butter
Blanch the vegetables briefly. Layer half the vegetables, season, and add half the cheese. Layer the rest of the vegetables, season, and add the rest of the cheese. Pour the cream over top. Cut the bread into cubes and toss with seasonings and butter. Sprinkle on top.
Bake in a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes until gratin-like…
